Description:
During the US War on Terror, following the 9/11 attacks, the US military realized it needed a weapons system that could be accurate at longer combat ranges, maneuverable for close-quarter urban combat and with more powerful ammunition than the traditional 5.56 mm that was being used. Along with the growing need for snipers, the US military opened a tender for its SASS or Semi-Automatic Sniper System program. Among the many companies that bid in 2004, it was KAC (Knights Armament Company) of Titusville, Florida, that won the bid in 2005.
The winning weapons system, as we see here, is a modified version of the SR25 or M110 currently used by Navy SEAL teams. The weapon, chambered in 7.62x51 NATO or .308, is very powerful and is based on the same AR10 platform as the SR25, so it was familiar to soldiers from all branches of the military who had trained under its cousin , the AR15 (M4/M16).
This particular M110K1 is a shortened version of the original M110, employing a URX 3.1 13.5" handguard and a shortened barrel for greater maneuverability. This airsoft sniper also features an AR-style retractable stock instead of the bulky fixed stock used on the original M110. The weapon is also ambidextrous for easy handling.
Like the M110 above, this model features the VFC "GuideHOP" hop adjustment system, meaning you can adjust hop on the fly by simply turning the simulated gas block. VFC has also reinforced the internal parts by using steel components for the anti-impact bolt carrier reinforcement block, making this airsoft sniper rifle much more durable compared to its predecessor. Lastly, this airsoft sniper rifle is compatible with the VFC SR25/M110 series of gas-powered airsoft magazines.
