The Walther P99 is the standard issue pistol of many police forces.

The Walther P99 detonating pistol, manufactured by Umarex, has all the features of the real weapon, including the decocker mechanism, and is the flagship of the Walther handguns. It also features the authentic Walther signature markings to ensure that it is as realistic as possible.

This detonating pistol in 9mm calibre is made of high quality black synthetic fibre. In addition, it has a Tenifer finish to provide a durable, wear and corrosion resistant surface. The handle backs are interchangeable and feature a textured finish for improved grip.

Since the 1997 film "Tomorrow Never Dies" in which the secret agent 007 used a Walther P-99, sometimes shown with a silencer, this pistol has become very famous. Moreover, in Spain it is a very well known weapon because it is the regulation weapon of the Mozos de Escuadra.

Historical Introduction

The design of the P99 began in 1994 and was driven by three factors: the commercial failure of the P88 (a traditional "Magic Nine" steel DA/SA pistol with an exposed hammer and manual safety), the need of the German police to replace the P5 AND stiff competition from Glock. Therefore, we can say that the P99 is the result of the DA/SA trigger system combined with the Glock's firing pin safety mechanism, plus a plastic frame. In fact, since the appearance of the Glock, some manufacturers have created models based on the Austrian pistol system, changing some parts and thus avoiding paying patent fees.
In 2004, the second generation appeared, eliminating the internal trigger guard boss and changing the slide type and design. An accessory rail was also included under the barrel and, from 2005, the magazine catch was lengthened.
