The Spyderco UpTern knife is a new version of the Byrd Tern™ knife. The Byrd version is a SlipJoint model, that is, it does not have any blade locking system. Instead, this new knife adds a rear lock that prevents the blade from closing while the user is using it, thus reducing the risk of injury.
The UpTern blade is manufactured using 8Cr13MoV stainless steel and has a dropped point shape with which tasks that require more force than precision can be performed. It has a straight profile that ends in a very competent smooth or combined edge. Before joining the handle, a slightly serrated recazos is inserted on both sides, without being sharp, in order to obtain greater control at all times by placing the index finger and thumb.
As for the handle, it is also made of stainless steel. On its back is where the previously mentioned rear lock is located and when it joins the handle it forms a wide mustache.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that the fully symmetrical design and the four-position configurable clip allow handling and transport to be very comfortable for both left- and right-handed people.
